Google MD & Some "Potty Humor"

I don't have the report in front of me so I can't give you specifics (not that you would want to hear them anyway) but I will tell you that it is probably NOT a good idea to take your MRI report and google various phrases while waiting for an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon! Oh well ...

In the meantime I will attempt to find some bits of humor in my situation to share with you:
  • A meniscus tear is one of the most common knee injuries. Especially among athletes. Unfortunately I got mine as I was rushing into a toilet stall at work. I turned around too quickly and my knee had a blow out!
  • Sitting down and standing up are difficult even under normal circumstances. Doing so while trying to "drop my drawers" or pull them back up is nigh unto impossible!
  • The toilet is the hardest place for me to sit down. I guess it's the height or something. (It's worse when the seat is left up.) I have learned, through trial and error, to kind of cock my right leg back, shift my left leg (fairly straight) as far forward and to the left as space and my reach allows and DROP onto the toilet seat. One of these days something is going to break! I hope it's the seat ... not me, the toilet, or the floor beneath it! That would be bad!
  • Getting back OFF the toilet is an experience unto itself! At work I can use the handicapped stall and reach behind and beside me, grasping the rails and pushing myself up. At home ... well ...
  • In the master bath there is a closet across from the toilet ... pretty much close enough that I could use it as a foot rest if I wanted to recline on the toilet (I don't!) so I just reach forward, grab the inside of the doorway on both sides and pull. Voila!
  • The main bathroom is more of an issue ... across from the toilet is a one sink vanity attached to the wall.  I hope it is still attached when I recover! I reach over, grab hold of the sink and pull myself upright, praying the whole way that I do not pull the sink off the wall!
  • In spite of all these challenges (and the added challenge involved in walking to and from the bathroom) I am drinking LOTS of water!
  • I am NOT planning to take pictures of any part of this process for either my 365 Blog or my Life Scrapbooks! If I get old and forget this part of my journey I am completely okay with that!
Josiah was doing some homework in the dining room last night when I got home from work and I didn't want to make noise, thereby disturbing his concentration, so I went to my home office and worked on a blog I was writing and perused a few that I follow. Next thing I knew it as 6:45 and I hadn't even considered what was for dinner yet! I threw a pan of Hot Wings and Teriyaki Chicken in the oven and figured I'd call it good. I ate 6 wings with considerably less blue cheese dressing than would be my norm. I also had about 1 chicken thigh worth of teriyaki chicken. No veggies but as I said previously ... I'm not much of a veggie eater! Good thing I like fruit! I also take a supplement for people who don't eat their veggies. Anyway ... Sat and watched TV til a little after 8:00 at which point I decided I was tired enough for an early bedtime.

This morning I got up and thought my knee felt pretty good. Got ready for work, woke Josiah gently, less gently and by yelling at him, made my smoothie, went out the kitchen door, and by the time I made it down those 4 stairs I remembered the pain. Oh well ... a pleasant start to the day was appreciated. Drove to work and the "inpenitent jerk" was parked in the handicapped space again. I was fed up so I wrote a politely worded note on the back of an envelope planning to leave it on his/her windshield. Walked around to the front of the car and noticed that although they do not have a state issued handicapped card they do have a University issued handicapped sticker. So I shoved my note into my pocket and muttered my way into work.

So ... this morning's smoothie experience was Tropical Fruit. I offered Josiah a sip and he said it wasn't bad. Asked if he wanted the part that didn't fit in my bottle and he said "no thanks" so I don't know how much he actually liked it. I'd like to find a smoothie blend that he likes because he's not much of a breakfast eater. Especially on days when he has an 8:00 class!

I may have my house all to myself this weekend. Wish I had the ability and energy to clean from top to bottom. It's so much easier to do when no one else is home. And I feel far more cheerful when my house is clean! Dirk & family are planning to drive from Ft. Hood to Sweetwater for the Rattlesnake Round-Up. (Not a festival that appeals to me but those nutty Texans seem to love it!) Bert has been debating going down and meeting them there. Josiah would enjoy going but has other plans. Bert asked Erica if she wanted to go with him and she indicated that she probably would. That's a good thing! As for Joe's plans? Spring Break starts this weekend and he and a bunch of his guy friends are planning to go camping at a state park. I hope they have good weather and a better time!

Well ... I have ventured a little far afield of the topic today. So be it! :) Until next time ...
